About Me
My name is Jailyn Marie Jenkins and I am an Elementary and Special Education major at Arizona State University. I am from Denver, Colorado, and I am an American of African descent. I am very fortunate to have been able to receive an excellent education from grade school to high school and beyond; and I want to be able to give my students a quality education experience, regardless of the school setting. Of my thirteen years of traditional schooling, 80% of it was spent in a private school setting. There are jokes about private schooling, but because private schools are independent of certain government restrictions, they are able to give their students more of a quality education because they have more freedom on how to run their classrooms. As a future educator, my goal is to be able to give my students a quality education in a public school setting, because money should not be directly tied to the value of the education a student receives.
Why Costa Rica?
I have always been intrigued by Central and South America, because they are like "neighbors" to the United States. One of my life goals is to go to Costa Rica, whether to study abroad or to vacation, so it would be wisest to gain as much knowledge now, before I fulfill that dream.
